Former Vice President of the New York Stock Exchange, Mr. Georges Ugeux, pays a visit to Central Securities Depository of Iran.

Central Securities Depository of Iran hosted visiting CEO of the investment banking advisory firm “Galileo Global Advisors” and former Vice President of the New York Stock Exchange (1996-2003,) Mr. Georges Ugeux, here at CSDI headquarters in Tehran.

Mr. Ugeux made the visit on the sidelines of the 27th Annual Conference on Monetary and Foreign Exchange Policies with the theme of "Financial Stability: Grounds for sustainable growth and Development," where he was invited to as one of the main speakers.

During the visit, Mr. Ugeux discussed significance of implementing efficient payment systems and further strengthening those systems to support the monetary policy transmission and the stability of financial system.

Mr. Ugeux, meanwhile, emphasized that joint experts meetings between Iranian and European firms and expertise are essential to set the stage. He acknowledged growing interests by European bourses, central securities depositories and clearing houses in seeking constructive interaction with Iranian entities despite hurdles on the way of implementation of the nuclear deal. Mr. Ugeux said the U.S. knows well that there are ample opportunities in doing business with Iran, adding words do not count when it comes to Americans but what they do on the ground is what matters most.

The Conference on Monetary and Foreign Exchange Policies was co-organized by Central Bank of Iran (CBI) and Monetary and Banking Research Institute (MBRI) was held on July 2-3, 2017. It brought together Iranian and foreign senior bank managers and scholars in money and banking affairs as well as academicians.
